Dear Parents,

What a joy to be your child’s teacher! Let me begin by introducing myself to all of you. I am Bobbi Sue Miller. I graduated from Pawnee High school in Grover. After graduating from UNC I taught both kindergarten and fourth grade at Highland Elementary School in Pierce. This is my 13^th year of teaching! I have two children, Jade-4rd grade and Skyla 6th grade, who also come to Briggsdale School. My husband John and I have been married twenty-two years and we live east of Gill.

We do not do afternoon milk in second grade. Your child will not need milk tickets unless your child brings in a lunch and they would like to drink milk with their lunch.

Periodically I will send home book orders. Please feel free to order either online or the “traditional way”. Book orders will come home soon and I will send home the internet login in case you want to order online.

We will do Pizza Book It! again this year. I have also included the details of this program with this letter.

I am aware that families have busy after school schedules. The homework schedule is flexible, but should be completed by Friday. Thank you for your support. Homework folders come home on Tuesdays. One side has notes to you and completed work. The other side has homework to be completed by Friday. Second graders are expected to read 10 minutes each day. Please keep track of your minutes on the reading calendar. Every week there will be worksheets and a homework schedule in the homework folder. Please help your student with this discipline. The purpose of this homework is to give them additional practice in spelling, reading, and math and also to foster good study habits.
